Brighton Autumn Chic Wedding
Amie & Jon planned the most gorgeous intimate Autumn city wedding. Despite the cold weather, the day felt incredibly warm from the styling to the atmosphere. The ceremony took place at Brighton town hall and their reception was at Number 124 by Guesthouse.
"Lucy we can’t thank you enough for our photographs! They are better than we ever imagined. Our friends and family are singing your praises! You an incredible talent, pictures we will forever cherish!"
Amie and Jon had an incredible vision for their day and they pulled it off to perfection. The Pinterest board was filled with rich deep colours of plum and olive, romantic posing and chic fashion to match their city town hall aesthetic so I knew from their initial enquiry that this was going to be a downright beautiful day.
Not only the styling, but how they spoke of each other in their enquiry warmed my heart, sharing how besotted they are, how each evening they reflect on their day together with their highlight always being each other’s company. Their heart was to marry in Brighton where they lived for a while and was where their love really grew. They considered a day with all the bells and whistles, but this didn’t feel right for them. What they wanted was “to take a vow to spend the rest of our lives together and promise to love one another in every lifetime.”
Amie herself had studied photography at university and so it was the biggest compliment when she wrote this in the enquiry…
“You recently captured a friend of a friend’s wedding day and I instantly knew I would want you to be a part of our special day.
I have a passion for buying antiques, but its the items you have an emotional connection with that become sentimental to you and that's how I feel when I look at your work. It just feels like a piece of art work I have been longing for.
I feel your style embodies everything I love; timeless, romantic and perfectly framed. You seem to effortlessly capture the most beautiful shots and I instantly want to add myself into every frame and quickly began to imagine what our wedding photographs would be like.”
I definitely shed a tear reading that. Me and my work felt seen by Amie and Jon, and I just wanted them to be seen too. For their love to be captured in the romantic way it deserved.
The day itself was simple but filled with so much intention and heart. A ceremony at Brighton town hall with personalised vows shared with just their closest family. After the ceremony we re-created an image that Amie has loved for a long time of all the guests moving around Amie and Jon. This was a lot of fun to do and loved collaborating with Amie to bring this vision of hers to life. We then stayed in the town hall getting some more couple portraits before they drove off in their surprise vintage car to take them to the bandstand. This was a special place for them, somewhere they visited a lot when they lived in Brighton so they absolutely wanted to come back on their wedding day. It was incredibly windy but this just added to the romantic drama of it all.
At the hotel after getting the details of their meal set up, which was absolutely divine and their Pinterest board come to life, we quickly snuck off to get some more couple photos. Every couple is different with their couple portraits. Some couples want minimal, some want to spend time on them and Amie and Jon really loved taking the time to get all these different shots and spending this time together. A big love for the direct flash in these.
This was a shorter coverage for me but has really stuck with me. Weddings don’t need to be big long days to make an impact. It always comes back to the couple, their love and their loved ones.
